MAKING MATCHBOX TOYS HALF A CENTURY AGO

COURTESY PATHE FILMS here’s a look at the early years of this famous brand.

Model cars moving on a conveyor belt that resembles a multi-lane highway make an interesting opening shot. Then  we see designers working away on drawing boards at what was then the original Lesney Products factory.

The shots here open a window to the pre-computer past, with parts and and prototypes being made with tools of a bygone age. White lab coats, hand-painted mechanical drawings, wood and chisels for constructing prototypes.

But were the models better then? Or are we now living in the real golden age of miniatures!?
